On his first label release, Feelings, Portland-based artist LEO ISLO focuses his efforts into a chillwave-laden house track saturated with warm pianos, pulsing baselines, and washy guitars. His wide and airy vocals are ever present, crooning introspectively about the isolation and vices of distant love before hitting us with a catchy hook.
LEO ISLO is new to the LA-based indie label LAMP in 2015, bringing with him a diverse catalogue of sounds spanning the genres of Lo-Fi Pop, chillwave, house, and indie-rock. His first EP, Modern Fiction, was released in 2014 and standout songs like Body Speak, Your Bones, and Zero grabbed attention early on, while also receiving nods from other contemporary electronic aficionados. He draws inspiration from artists like Jai Paul, Neon Indian, Toro Y Moi, Caribou, Washed Out, and Grimes.

If you’re a regular visitor to the site, you’ll surely be familiar with LA-based label and production house LAMP, who in our opinion are home to some of the more talented up-and-comers in the scene right now. Today, we’re happy to be premiering the first release on the label from their newest addition, Portland-based artist Leo Islo. A choice representation of the diversity LAMP itself displays, Leo brings with him a varied sound, covering the likes of chillwave, house, and indie rock seamlessly. And this newest single of his, Feelings, encompasses the best of those with ease. Backed by warm house beats, the track shifts between breezy keys, drifting guitar notes and a tenderly atmospheric vocal, making sure you’ll find this one swimming around your head on repeat in no time.
