about
Written late one boozy night on a beach in Nicaragua, this track became a "b-side" of sorts from the Modern Fiction EP. After playing it out in 2014 and getting a good response from the acoustic version, I decided to produce and release it as a single.
lyrics
Lyrics:
I had my head above water, but now...
you can see that I've been sinking down.
under all this heavy knowledge,
like a king under the crown.
now you can see me sinking down.
theres an empire of shadows in my room.
they've been waiting for the darkness,
they've been waiting for their doom.
and its all gonna' come running back too soon.
its all gonna come running back to you.
but I can see beyond the sheen,
its all beautifully obscene.
the way you're moving me just like you do.
cause' you're the queen of misdirection,
I'm the king of good intentions.
but maybe I'll be fine right next to you.
Well I can see atlantis when I sleep.
she is hiding in the darkest of the ocean as I dream.
and its all that I can do to make believe.
yeah its all that I can do to make believe.
but I can see beyond the sheen,
its all beautifully obscene.
the way you're moving me just like you do.
cause' you're the queen of misdirection,
I'm the king of good intentions.
but maybe I'll be fine right next to you.
oh... maybe I'll be fine right next to you.
but maybe I'll be fine right next to you.
